SBWFA League game 4
TOMATIN UTD 2 - 2 CARR-BRIDGE![]()
Carr-bridge took to the field tonight expecting a straightforward win over Tomatin Utd, however as events transpired it was the home side who almost left with all 3 points instead.
It was all Carr-bridge for most of the first half as United were put on the back foot right from kick off. And it came as little surprise when they took the lead through a deflected Forrest shot from close range. McMonagle added a second not long after as Carr-bridge went into cruise control, especially when a long range Harrower drive pinged off the woodwork. However the first ring of the alarm bell sounded just before the interval when Bowles was ajudged to have fouled a United attacker in the box for a penalty. But the stopper made amends by brilliantly tipping Stuart's spot kick round the post to keep the score 2-0 at half time.
But this became the proverbial game of two halves right from the restart when United came out fighting. They dominated the early part of the second period despite surviving another encounter with the woodwork, yet it was only a matter of time before the pulled one back following some neat inter-passing on 70 minutes. United then threw everything into attack, and they deservedly grabbed an equaliser with 10 minutes left, stunning a now sloppy Carr-bridge defence.
But with the very last kick of the ball, the visitors were presented with a gift-wrapped 3 points in the shape of a late late penalty. However Forrest spurned the present by cannoning his spot kick off the post and out for a goal kick. The final whistle then sounded and a delighted Tomatin Utd had secured a thoroughly deserved point against the league leaders.
