SBWFA League week 1
CROMDALE 2 - 4 CARR-BRIDGE ![]()
Carr-bridge began thier league campaign with a strong team, despite injury-enforced changes. However it was the home side which came flying out the blocks on all cylinders, dominating the opening play before deservedly taking a 1-0 lead on 10 minutes through Green. Cromdale could easilly have added to this tally had it not been for replacement stopper Bowles being on fine form with several superb saves.
However the visitors soon found their stride with McInnes and Harrower staring to bully the midfield, and Robertson showing some fine skill out on the wing. But against the run of play, Cromdale went 2-0 up with a break from their own half which caught the Carr-bridge defence napping. Carr-bridge hit back almost immediately, with Rose battling and catching Sellars off his line with a deft lob from all of 45 yards. Both sides then played out the remaining few minutes to go into the interval 2-1 to Cromdale.
The second half started with Carr-bridge on top, and this domination forced the impressive Sellars into yet more saves to keep the visitors from levelling. But parity finally came on the hour mark when Robertson converted a McGowan run to make it all-square. Then 5 minutes later the comeback was comple courtesey of a curling 25 yard strike from McMonagle into the back of the net.
The Carr-bridge tales were up now, and they started playing some sharp, fast football with movement and pace all over the park. And the final shot was fired when Harrower's through ball found Robertson, who left two defenders in his wake up the line before delivering a perfect cross to substitue Hansen who duly found the net on 90 minutes. This capped a remarkable comeback and a deserved 4-2 win.
