RBL Cup 1st Round
CARR-BRIDGE 3-5 AVIEMORE THISTLE![]()
After Extra Time - Full Time 3-3
Carr-bridge were were knocked-out of the RBL Cup tonight in extra time, having held Aviemore Thistle to a 3-3 draw after 90 mins.
However, what was incredible about this scoreline is that Carr-bridge did so with only 9 men for 75 minutes - until they were reduced to EIGHT men for the last 15 plus half an hour's extra time following a serious head injury to Ian Cormack.
Fraser Gordon scored a low drive from the edge of the box into the bottom corner to make it 1-0, before Aviemore equlaised shortly afterwards. Fraser Tulloch then hit a 25 yard shot into the top corner to take Carr-bridge's 9 men into a half time lead.
Just after the interval David Ritchie gave away a penalty from which Aviemore leveled the scores again, but Marcus Forrest slotted past the keeper from the edge of the box after running with the ball from the half way line to make it 3-2 to Carr-bridge in the 80th minute. Just as it seemed like the impossible was about to happen, Aviemore equalised again with only a couple of minutes to go as Carr-bridge were reduced to 8 men, with Ian Cormack heading up to Raigmore for treatment to his nasty head gash. The game then moved into extra time.
Sadly for the home side, 8 against 11 finally took its toll during the additional 30 minutes as Aviemore scored either side of the interval to advance into the semi-final 5-3 winners.
