Caldwell Cup Semi Final
TOMATIN 2-1 CARR-BRIDGE
Carr-bridge opened the season by taking on reigning League champions Tomatin on their own patch, with a place in the Caldwell Cup semi-final at stake.
The visitors began the game well and dominated the early stages, finally getting their reward when new Texan signing Sam Wormald slotted home a penalty, displaying the class which saw him a regular in last season's Highland League with Lossiemouth. However this lead was short lived and was almost immediately cancelled by two very quick Tomatin strikes before the interval.
Carr-bridge came back out in the second half with all guns blazing and dominated much of the proceedings, but try as they might they just couldn't find the back of the net a second time and the match ended in an undeserved 2-1 defeat. Lee Catto and Michael Mulligan made very impressive debuts, and coupled with the grit and determination displayed by the men in black & white, all bodes well for the upcoming League campaign.
Carr-bridge expect a further 8 players to be ready for the League opener at home to Tomatin Utd, so clearly we won't suffer from the same lack of numbers which so badly decimated last season's campaign.
